Cactuar

The cactuar are either very intelligent or very instinctive creatures found in Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, Dirge of Cerberus, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy X-2. They are normally found in desert areas (such as the desert surrounding the Gold Saucer in Final Fantasy VII) or on very small islands. Once engaged in a battle, cactuar will very often run away (this makes them tough to kill, though in most cases when you do you are rewarded nicely), and if they stay in battle they will unleash an attack known as 1,000 needles in self defense.
